10 Reasons to Hire a Photographer This Summer

  1. Beach Vacation

A good vacation photographer is invaluable and with many of us are headed to the coast this season and what better time to get those family photos done than when we are all feeling giddy with the vacation giggles. My immediate family and I took a trip from Fort Worth to Galveston, TX every year as our family vacation. The memories we made on those trips are something that I cherish! It’s not only where my siblings and I created a bank of inside jokes and nicknames (ask me about cubic meter 34, or moon unit 64) , but it’s where we built the foundations of our lives and relationships as adults. The only regret I have when looking back on those times is that we don’t have many, or any, photos of those times in our lives.

  2. Best Friends

Whether you have grown up together or just bonded over this last year, there is no better reason to have a photo shoot than because you love someone. Best friend shoots can be so much fun and incredibly diverse. Also, remember to snag matching BFF jewelry at the nearest Claire’s {I’m such a child but I really do love their accessories}! Growing up is such a troublesome and magical time, friends come and go all of the time but our best childhood friends leave a lasting mark on the people we grow up to be. What better way to honor that memory than a fun and energetic photoshoot?

  3. Sunflowers

Seems like early morning or late afternoon sessions in a field of giant sunflowers would be probably one of the best things ever. Just be sure that your foot prints are light and you don’t damage any of these precious crops. Better yet, don’t venture into the fields at all ( without express permission) and just enjoy standing in front of them for the perfect photo op! It is important that we respect other peoples property. I recommend bare feet and natural prints or embellished summer threads! This holds true for any field of crops you might find yourself wanting to venture in for photos. Corn fields, cotton, and orchards are a few more examples I can think of. They make stunning backdrops for portraits but are also the livelihood of farmers and we need to make sure we respect that.

  4. Creeks

Make the end of a hot Summer day a splash when you decide on a creek as your photo shoot venue. The natural textures of the rock complete my soul and require little to make beautiful. Guys, roll up you trousers! Ladies, slip on those crop tops! Drag your photographer to the nearest, or furthest for a bit more of an adventure, creek bed and disturb the quiet heat with a splash. Add in some popsicles for a delightful and beautiful childhood magic photo set.

  5. Childhood

The kids are running wild in the house and making you crazy! It’s time to take a breath and fall back in love with their sweet little giggles. Schools out so it’s easier than ever to plan a session around the magic that is childhood. Hunt for creatures in the forest, build a fort, and just let them run from one end of a sun kissed field to the other. In addition, when you let them be little you get an incredible Summer vibe that’s full of dirt smudged cheeks and whimsy. What do you think we do during my family sessions anyway ? Let them be little and play with your kids for gorgeous images. From lake Zorinsky to Mahoney and Fontanelle forest, there is a never ending supply of magic right in our own backyard.

  6. Boudoir

You can choose an indoor location to beat the heat or let your photographer convince you that outdoors is the perfect location for your sultry Summer session. Need idea on boudoir appropriate outfits, get inspired on my Pinterest board for just that! Think textures like lace, comfort like oversized shirts, and themed like bridal!

  7. Watermelon

Bright and fun, watermelon is a Summer staple! Slice upp some of this sweet fruit, grab your littles and head outside for a flavorful good time. Don’t dress them in anything that you would be sad to see get ruined so that you don’t stress out during the shoot. When you freak, so do your kids and your photographer.

  8. Ice Cream and Popsicles

Another messy, yet rewarding prop! As a photographer, I approve! The variety of color and texture is so inspiring. Plus you get smiles for days, just the perfect option if you want sweet wall art for your home! Just imagine plopping your little ones on a vintage couch with adorable ( yet quite affordable) outfits from Amazon, with brightly colored pops as they giggle and smile away.

  9. Camping

One of my personal favorites! Take me camping with you and get incredibly unique portraits under stars, by the fire or hiking through the woods.  Accessorize smart with things like fun socks, enamel mugs and rustic goods for a session full of life and quite frankly, inten{t}se. (dad jokes!) Your life is full of adventure and your tangible memories should reflect that. Imagine a

  10. Vibrant Colors

Sizzle and pop this Summer with rad color pallets for every taste. Bright flats and vibrant yellow pants for the win! I love to see my clients using playful color to show off their personalities in their portraits. Summer is the perfect time of year to pull those colors off! We can set up white sheet or canvas painting sessions to inspire those future creators!
